There is no getting away with the fact that speed cameras are here
and are here to stay. In theory, they are only supposed to be located in accident
blackspots but many say they are just revenue earners.
Talex, with GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite technology is not just
a speed trap alert system, but a road safety device that will warn the driver
of fixed,
mobile
and red
light
cameras.
Compact and simple to install and use due to its ‘plug and
play’ operation, TALEX uses the Global Positioning
System (GPS), making it 100% legal now and in the future.
As well as providing valuable protection against
unnecessary fines, TALEX helps to keep the busy business
man or woman safe and secure whilst on the move.
The device gives voice announcements to warn you when
you are within 500 yards of a safety or speed camera and also
confirms what the speed limit is on that section of the road.
If the vehicle is exceeding the speed limit 200 yards prior
to the camera, the system will advise you to slow down. TALEX also sounds an alert to confirm when the vehicle
has safely passed the camera.
The New Talex works on fully integrated Sirf Star III Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology. It alerts you to:
The new Talex has audible, visual and voice alerts.
It is extremely simple to install and update. Using the latest GPS technology, the Talex constantly gives you an accurate speed reading, alerting you as you approach speed cameras and hazards. Even if you don’t know what the speed limit is, the Talex will tell you!
After a while, you tend to look at the Talex’ speed indication rather than the speedo inbuilt to your car because it is so accurate. By doing this, it is impossible to get caught on a speed camera or mobile police trap.
The Talex GPS system is so sophisticated now that it is able to tell you your exact position to within a meter and your exact speed to within 0.1 mph.
GPS can tell you where you are anywhere in the world. Signals are transmitted from 28 satellites orbiting the Earth.
A GPS receiver inbuilt in to the Talex picks up these signals, decodes them, then calculates where you are — all in real time.
The inbuilt computer then plots your position to within 1 meter on a virtual map.
Until recently the signal from the GPS system was deliberately degraded by the US military. However, they have now decided that allowing everyone to access the more accurate signal does not pose a security threat and have unscrambled the signal. The move allows users to pin down their position to just 1 meter. The previous best was 100 meters.
The new Talex is specifically designed to take advantage of this improved accuracy.
Various governments have billions of pounds invested in the technology because it is used primarily for military applications. It is therefore designed to be immune to natural occurrences such as solar flares and asteroid impacts (if a satellite is taken out, the system still operates flawlessly with the other 27 satellites) so it is incredibly reliable.
Should you breakdown, just press the unique position button and the Talex will give your exact location co-ordinates (and even your altitude!) so that you can relay these to rescue services or your breakdown recovery company. This is a great peace of mind when driving in an area you are not familiar with.
You can select between the two different modes depending upon your preference. Safe Driving Mode will remind you to put your seatbelt on, remind you when you have been driving for too long to take a break, tell you about primary schools, secondary schools and other hazards.
On the other hand, Camera Detection Mode just tells you about Fixed Cameras and Mobile Police Speed Traps.
Capable of storing up to 150,000 unique sites (three times more than the Road Angel's 50,000), your New Talex arrives pre-programmed with all the latest updates, meaning that you can use it within 60 seconds of opening the parcel (good if you are impatient like me!)
Thereafter, it can be updated anytime, day or night via the Internet. All you have to do is plug it in to your computer with the cable provided and follow the simple instructions.
You can also easily personalise your own database to include information specific to you with the click of a button.
By regularly updating , you will never get a false alert because of the quality and integrity of the database.
